TO PURSUE SCIENCE GUIDED BY COMPASSION, GROUNDED IN INTEGRITY, AND MEASURED IN LIVES IMPROVED.

Science that serves humanity

Founded in 2014 by Ron Penna and supported by Legendary Foods, BioShift Research Foundation is a philanthropic research organization dedicated to reducing the global burden of disease.

While most biotech companies focus on treatments that are patentable and profitable, BioShift was created to explore what others overlook — promising scientific ideas that may never see commercial investment but have the potential to improve human health, profoundly.

We measure our success not in profit but in the amount of suffering and morbidities we can reduce, and the lives we can change.

Our Mission

At BioShift Research Foundation, we pursue to reduce disease burden by advancing research that prioritizes human health over profit. Our team studies biological and metabolic pathways that hold promise for treating major diseases. By combining scientific rigor with compassion, we aim to create accessible, effective solutions that improve one’s quality of life.

Our programs put this mission into action — each designed to tackle some of the world’s most pressing health challenges. By focusing on metabolic and physiological mechanisms across cancer, cardiovascular disease, vision, and peripheral neuropathy; BioShift is redefining how we approach complex diseases.

Explore each area below to see how our work is creating pathways to earlier detection, safer treatments, and lasting health.

  • Our oncology program combines early detection with metabolic-based intervention.

    Early Detection

Our work is directed at a liquid biopsy to detect cancer at its earliest stages and potentially identify where it begins.

    Metabolic Treatment

In parallel, our team studies metabolic therapies that target how cancer cells use energy, aiming to stop tumor growth.

  • The LuNa program

Heart disease remains one of the world’s leading causes of death often linked to plaque buildup in the arteries.

Our LuNa program explores how natural enzymes might help reduce arterial plaque and improve overall vascular health.

  • The major causes of preventable blindness are glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. We are exploring ways to improve blood flow and oxygen delivery to the retina, helping protect the nerve cells that enable sight.

Our work aims to slow or even prevent vision loss in people who don’t fully respond to current eye-pressure treatments.

  • Peripheral neuropathy causes pain, numbness, and tingling when nerve cells cannot produce enough energy to function properly. BioShift’s research focuses on revitalizing the mitochondria to help restore neural communication and reduce discomfort.

By improving nerve health at its source, we aim to bring relief and renewed quality of life to those affected.
